Please check the attached list of properties that are slated for demolition. Many owners are unaware that their properties are on this list. Notices are being placed in the Times-Picayune by the City of New Orleans. A citywide list is available here. There is also more information on our discussion forum here

Participate in CURBSIDE RECYCLING in Broadmoor!

Phoenix Recycling, Inc. made their first scheduled curbside pickup in Broadmoor on Monday, August 13. The service will continue bi-weekly. Many in Broadmoor have already signed up with Phoenix. If you haven’t yet, it is not too late. Signup forms can be printed off the Phoenix website.

The bi-weekly service costs $15 per month per household. Phoenix collects plastics #1 thru # 7 (no grocery bags or film plastic), empty glass bottles and jars (no pyrex, ceramics or window glass), empty aluminum and tin cans, newspaper and mixed paper (separated), and cardboard (flattened).

Keller Library Grant Press Release

$2 Million Carnegie Corporation Grant Catalyzes Community Redevelopment Effort in Heart of New Orleans; Community Identifies Rosa Keller Library as Priority Project

Carnegie Corporation of New York announced today a $2 million grant to the Broadmoor Improvement Association for the reconstruction, restocking and refurnishing of the Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center, a building that serves as the historic Broadmoor neighborhood's social and cultural hub. The reconstructed building, located in the heart of the historic Broadmoor neighborhood, will house a state-of-the-art library and a vibrant community center. The Keller Library was destroyed both as a physical structure and as a library repository during hurricane Katrina.

The City of New Orleans Office of Emergency Preparedness has launched a new high-tech emergency text and voice notification system. NOLA Ready, the emergency alert system, will send real-time emergency information that may include rain storms, evacuations, threatening levee breaches, loss of power and communication disruptions to first responders, emergency managers, business owners, tourists and registered residents. The messages will be sent via email, cell phones, pagers, Blackberry’s and Treo’s.

Senator Hillary Clinton Visits Broadmoor

Friday, May 18, Presidential Candidate Senator Hillary Clinton visited Broadmoor. She spoke with and toured the homes of Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Washington, Louisiana Avenue Parkway residents to discuss rebuilding challenges and the state of the recovery in Broadmoor.

In order to be considered , We ask everyone in our to participate in this survey conducted with full privacy and confidentiality by the LSU Survey Lab. It will survey both neighbors who have returned and those who are still displaced, to help us understand community needs and plan our recovery.
