ARTS AND WELLNESS CENTER
The former St. Matthias School has been re-purposed to serve neighborhood residents in a new, holistic way. Located on the second floor of the newly renovated building, the Arts & Wellness Center (AWC) is designed to enrich the community at every life stage by bringing together innovative, creative programs and holistic wellness services in one vibrant collaborative space.
“Broadmoor has been consistent, not about just talking and planning, but we have been consistent with taking action and implementing programs.” - Mayor LaToya Cantrell
In 2010 the Louisiana Legislature designated Broadmoor as a "neighborhood improvement district,” which formally established Broadmoor’s boundaries, created an elected governing board, and allowed for a parcel fee vote. In November of 2010, Broadmoor voters approved funding the improvement district for five years through an annual $100 parcel-fee. Parcel fees fund the general operating needs of the Broadmoor Improvement Association and provide financial leverage for quality-of-life programs and projects.
