Clinical CEU’s Matter

CEU: It stands for Continuing Education Unit and it's a valuable tool for any professional. Taking these post-college courses allows one to upgrade their skills and keep up with evolving industries.

In the Clinical Mental Health industry, continuing education credits are vital. They’re required for counselors to renew their license. Mental Health professionals need to have an up to date understanding of their fields in order to provide the most effective care possible. And the most effective care is the most compassionate care.

At the Broadmoor Improvement Association, we play a part in the ecosystem of care by providing our own continuing education courses. Our Clinical Director Jonah Quinn describes them as ‘expanding the therapist’s toolbox’. Making it easier for clinicians to reach for methods that rely less on judgment and more on acceptance.

The BIA can only reach so many people through it’s affordable counseling program; the CEU program allows us to have a bigger impact on our community. By teaching an inclusive and innovative approach, more people in New Orleans will receive effective and compassionate care.

To be fair, we benefit from this program just as much as the community. Our most recent CEU “An Introduction to Parts Work” was a huge fundraising success! We beat our previous attendance record by 30% and those who attended helped us raise $2750. During his year as Clinical Director, Jonah Quinn has completely revitalized this program.
