Hours and Location: Part-time, 18 hours per week. Work must be completed on-site at the BIA’s Arts & Wellness Center (3900 General Taylor Street) or at the Community Center at the Rosa Keller Library (4300 S. Broad Street). The Arts & Wellness Center is open Monday-Friday, 9am-9pm and on Saturdays from 9am-6pm. The library Community Center is open Monday-Thursday, 10am-8pm and Friday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Weekly schedule will be set with the employee upon hiring. Please indicate your availability when submitting your application.


Position Description: The Broadmoor Improvement Association seeks a part-time Desk Ambassador to join our team to provide excellent customer service to the diverse community members who work, receive counseling services, and host classes, meetings, and events at the Arts & Wellness Center. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their customer service experience in a vibrant, community-based setting that serves the Broadmoor neighborhood with access to affordable mental health services and rental space for community events. The ideal candidate will understand what it means to work as part of a team to deliver professional customer service.


Job Duties:

Customer Service (75%):

  • Greet all visitors to the Arts & Wellness Center at the front desk.

  • As appropriate, answer questions and give directions to tenant offices and classes, programs and events held in the space.

  • Provide tours of the facility to community members when asked, referring rental clients to the website to book space.

  • Answer all incoming phone calls and refer inquiries to the appropriate BIA staff person or Arts & Wellness Center tenant organization.

  • Provide sign-in sheets for all events held at the Arts & Wellness Center to assist in tracking attendance.

  • Assist rental clients in setting up rooms for their events, ensuring clients have appropriate access to technical equipment and any additional supplies.

  • Greet clients for BIA’s affordable counseling services and direct them to the counseling suite waiting room. Contact appropriate BIA staff members to alert them when clients arrive. Maintain confidentiality and anonymity of all counseling clients and foster a welcoming, professional and respectful environment.

Facility Management (15%):

  • If assigned to opening or closing shifts, follow BIA policies and procedures to safely open and close the building, ensuring doors are locked, staff kitchen is clean, and all patrons have left the building before closing.

  • Maintain and organize the community flyer table and front desk area.

  • Check bathrooms and staff kitchen for cleanliness and replenish supplies as necessary.

  • Report any facilities issues to the appropriate BIA staff member.

Data Entry (10%):

  • Log any referrals made to BIA services in a Google form at the end of each shift.

  • Upon receipt of completed sign-in sheets, log attendance information for all Arts & Wellness Center events in a Google form.

Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Desk Ambassador position will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Provide excellent customer service to the diverse tenants, clients, and community members who use the Arts & Wellness Center.

  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude, even when working with challenging individuals.

  • Think creatively to solve problems as they arise. Identify appropriate team members to ask for help when necessary.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team of Desk Ambassadors to foster a friendly, welcoming and professional environment at the Arts & Wellness Center.

  • Maintain confidentiality and anonymity of all BIA counseling clients.

  • Utilize the Google suite, including Gmail and Google Forms, to routinely log attendance and referral information for patrons at the Arts & Wellness Center.

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to limited computer work

  • Light to moderate lifting is required

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required. Desk Ambassadors must arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.

Compensation: Starts at $8/hour, with the possibility to increase based on performance.
