Job Title: Communications Lead & Volunteer Coordinator


Reports to: Executive Director


Hours and Location: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Weekly schedule will be set with employee upon hiring. Please indicate your availability when submitting your application.


Position Description: The Broadmoor Improvement Association seeks a part-time Communications Lead & Volunteer Coordinator to join our team and assist in maintaining and promoting the BIA’s presence within the community through its online presence, promotional materials, and community events. Working with input from the whole BIA team, this position will ensure the BIA remains actively engaged within the community and responds to its concerns. The ideal candidate understands what it means to collaborate effectively and work in a professional office setting.


Job Duties:

General Duties

  • Oversee the annual marketing and communications budget and track expenses

  • Receive feedback from Broadmoor residents and pass on to appropriate staff members

  • Communicate with staff to develop content and promote events

  • Communicate with community partners to include relevant programming/initiatives for neighborhood residents in scheduled outreach

  • Create campaign strategies for annual marketing initiatives that reflect the mission and values of the BIA

  • Collaborate on and help execute monthly neighborhood meetings

Copywriting & Design

  • Write, design, and send out Broadmoor Beat email newsletters every other week

  • Oversee the creation and distribution of bi-annual direct mail print newsletters

  • Update website to reflect current schedule, staff, and events, and create unique blog content monthly

  • Create custom graphics and printed flyers for upcoming events, workshops, and programs

  • Manage the social media platforms for the BIA, generating weekly content and responding to comments and messages on each platform

Event Planning

  • Oversee permitting, planning, and vendor relations for annual events, both in-person and virtual

  • Write and send out press releases ahead of major events and maintain a list of current media contacts

  • Serve on planning committees for major events

  • Manage an annual calendar of all events hosted by the BIA and oversee the successful execution of events

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Manage the Broadmoor Food Pantry’s volunteer opportunities through the Second Harvest portal

  • Maintain the BIA’s volunteer database and communicate upcoming opportunities to volunteers

  • Respond to individual inquiries and connect residents to meaningful volunteer roles

  • Manage the Broadmoor Block Captains program and communicate updates to captains


Qualifications:

Proficient in:

  • Canva

  • Mailchimp

  • Wix

  • Microsoft Office/Google Suite


Compensation: Starts at $15/hour, with the possibility to increase based on performance.
